A beautifully located temple with a large temple tank in front. The entrance is through a 3 tier Rajagopuram with a separate entrance arch to the Goddess shrine.

History

Thirugnanasambandar (7th century CE) has visited and rendered Thevaram Hymns to the Lord here.

Mythology

Lord Vishnu in the form of a Boar is believed to have created a tunnel in front of lord Shiva and hence the place is called Hari (Vishnu) Dwara (hole) Mangalam.

Directions

Haridwaramangalam is located about 15 Kilometers north west of Needamangalam. You can reach from Avalivalnallur and it is advisable to combine the two. You can reach from Needamangalam, or from Kumbakonam via Patteeswaram, or from the Kumbakonam to Needamangalam road by taking a right at Padagachery after crossing the Vettar River. None locally. Closest for food is Needamangalam. Stay would be Kumbakonam, but depending on your route and plan there are other options.
