History

Theerthanadaswamy, Andhanallur dates back to the Chola era. Said to have been constructed by Parantaka Chola. Rajaraja Chola, Rajendra Chola, Hoysala king Krishna Veera Valalar and Nayak Kings have contributed to the temple. Thirugnanasambandar has mentioned this temple in his hymns and thus this is a Vaipusthalam.
