Thirukandeswarar Chakkaramallur Temple is east facing with huge walls and built in immaculate style on stone base. The entrance is from the south. The outer Prakaram is large and spacious though the fringes are dominated by vegetation. A stone and concrete pathway has been laid here close to the inner prakaram wall. The inner Prakaram is enclosed and is quite spacious also.

History

Stone inscriptions have been found here and Thirukandeswarar Chakkaramallur predates the time of Vikrama Chola who through his trusted and reputed deputy Kalingarayan performed various services to this temple which was not in great state then itself (1125 CE). Thirukandeswarar Chakkaramallur is believed to have been built around 7th Century CE.
