Stone inscriptions have been found here and Thirukandeswarar Chakkaramallur predates the time of Vikrama Chola who through his trusted and reputed deputy Kalingarayan performed various services to this temple which was not in great state then itself (1125 CE). Thirukandeswarar Chakkaramallur is believed to have been built around 7th Century CE.

Thirukandeswarar Chakkaramallur is about 14 kms east of Arcot on the south side of the Palar River. If you are going from Chennai there is a short cut across the river from Thiruparkadal.
