Thirukaleeswarar Panaiyur is a small east facing temple without a compound wall. The Nandi faces the main deity through a small closed door. A stone Dwajasthambam is before the Nandi. The sanctum sanctorum is entered from the south facing the Goddess. The main deity is a large Lingam. There is a temple pond east of the temple. A massive banyan tree is outside to the west of the temple with a Vinayaka idol installed below. To the south of the tree is an old temple for Panayathamman.
