Somanatheeswarar Tharapakkam is a beautiful temple built up in recent times over an ancient Shivalingam. The Lingam is said to have come up in the vision of a devotee and he is said to have built up the temple. The Lingam has been amidst paddy fields for ages and worshiped by the people around.

The lingam of Somanatheeswarar Tharapakkam is said to be old, but the temple has been constructed in recent times. People believe there had been a large temple somewhere here in the ancient past and the Lingam is a remnant of the ruins.

Somanatheeswarar Tharapakkam is after Gerugambakkam and about 7.5 kilometers from the St.Thomas Mount – Porur road. Take the left just after crossing Adyar River bridge. There are two other temples here.
