Kailasanathar Cherapananchery is an ancient temple which has been completely lost over time. The large lingam, about 5 feet wide base (Aavudayar) and 3 feet tall, has survived along with the stone foundations of the Sanctum Sanctorum. A shed has been built all around the remains for protection. The temple is attended to by a priest.

Kailasanathar Cherapananchery is 12 kilometers west of Vandalur in the road going to Oragadam and comes after crossing Padappai. This temple is not visible from the road and you have to either ask someone locally or refer our map below which provides the exact location. At Cherapananchery junction take a left towards the south and drive for a kilometer to reach the temple which is identifiable by a large metal shed.

None locally. Vandalaur, Tambaram and the GST Road have a few restaurants. Oragadam is also fine for food.
