Kailasanadar Singikulam is a beautiful west-facing temple situated on the banks of the Pachai River which comes from the slopes of the Western Ghats and runs in front of the temple. The temple is entered through a gateway mandapam in the west. The outer Prakaram is filled with beautiful flowering plants and trees. The entrances to the sanctum sanctorum and Goddess shrine are from this Prakaram through separate mandapams in front. The sanctum and shrine are separate and have pillared mandapams before the deities. The sanctum sanctorum of the main deity has an inner Prakaram around for circumambulation whereas the shrine of the goddess has the outer Prakaram running around.

Directions

Kailasanadar Singikulam is about 25 kilometers southwest of Tirunelveli via National Highway 44 to Kanyakumari. Take a right at Pannankulam and go for 7 kilometers taking the PSN College Road to reach the temple. You can also reach from Tirunelvelu via Tharuvai which is about the same distance as the other route. There is a Perumal temple adjacent in the north. You have to park your vehicle on the main road and take the footbridge across the river to reach both temples.
