Uthamanadeeswarar, Keelathanyam is an ancient temple that is under the control of the Archaeological Survey of India. This temple is an all stone and all square construction from bottom to top.

History

Uthamanadeeswarar, Keelathanyam was built in the 9th Century CE and built during the reign of Ko Ilango Mutharaiyar. He is also said to have constructed the Uthamanadeeswarar temple at Keeranur. The goddess shrine and some additions were made in the 12th Century CE by the Pandyas.
