Mundaka Kanniamman Mylapore is a very important temple and a busy one too. This is an east facing temple with a small 3 tiered gopuram at the entrance. The main deity is a Swayambu which was found in a lotus pond in the area in the ancient days. Mundagam means Lotus in Tamil. As she appeared like a lotus bud the deity is called Mundaga Kanniamman. The deity is under a thatched roof to represent simplicity. Behind the main deity is a banyan tree with a Naagar idol below. Opposite the temple is Vinayaka under a Peepul tree.
