There are 3 stone inscriptions here at Vadugoor Aandar Koil of Parakesari Varman (Parantaka I) mentioning gifts of land and lamp to the temple. Another inscription of Rajakesarivarman (Rajaraja I) also mentions a gift of land made in the regin of Madirai-konda Parakesarivarman (Parantaka I) to offset the sale of silver and gold articles in the past for meeting the expenses of the temple. An inscription of the 12th year of Rajaraja I mentions that the Assembly of Tribhuvana Mahadevi Chaturvedimangalam met in the mandapa built by Mummudi Chola Umbala Nattuvelan and remitted the taxes on a hamlet purchased and gifted to the temple.
The present Vadugoor Aandar Koil here was known in the past as Tiruvarai Nakkan Koyil Paramasvamin at Tribhuvana Mahadevi Chaturvedimangalam, a Brahmadesa on the northern bank of the Tribhuvani (Pennai) River. In an inscription of Kulothunga I, the deity is called Tiruvaiyaru Udaiya Mahadevar (Panchanadisvarar).
