Thirukoteeswarar Dargakudi is an east facing temple built in the late Pandiya architectural style. The temple was under renovation during our visit in 2014.

Thirukoteeswarar Dargakudi was built by Mahimalaya Irukkuvel ruler of Kodumbalur who was a subordinate of Parantaka Chola I around 13th Century CE. Stone inscriptions of Parakrama Pandiya, Kulasekara Pandiya and Virapandiya are found in Thirukoteeswarar Dargakudi apart from various other inscriptions.
