Tirumangaiazhwar (One of the 12 Alwars – 7th to 10th Centuries CE) has sung 11 hymns of Divya Prabhandham here at Thiru Indhaloor in praise of the Lord.
The historic subject of giving equal status to Cauvery and Ganges rivers happened here and they are seen sitting here at Thiru Indhaloor on the head and feet of the lord respectively. Chandran is said to have been relieved of his sins here at Thiru Indhaloor by the lord and his consort together.
Thiru Indhaloor is located in the outskirts of Mayiladuthurai town.
