Soundararaja Perumal Temple, Thiru Nagapattinam is an east facing temple with a large 7 tier Rajagopuram and 3 Prakarams. A wonderful brass statue of 8 handed Narasimha killing Hiranyakashibu, with one hand touching the head of his son Prahlad is seen here.

Aadhisesha was accepted as the Lord’s bed here at Thiru Nagapattinam. A young prince, Dhruvan, performed penance and when the lord appeared on his Garuda Vahana, fascinated by his beauty forgot what he wanted and asked the lord to stay in this place forever. Thus the Thiru Nagapattinam temple was built.
