Karupparai Bhagavati Payanam is an old temple situated beautifully on the banks of the Tamiraparani River surrounded by areca nut palms, rubber trees, other plantations, and fields. the main deity is a carving on a large rock around which a beautiful sanctum sanctorum has been built up later. A single Prakram houses the sanctum. The temple is entered through a gateway in the west. Outside this gate is a Peepal tree under which are installed Naagar Idols. The steps near this take you down to the river. There is a Shiva temple also nearby to the west.

Directions

Karupparai Bhagavati Payanam is 3.5 kilometers from Marthandam. Enter the Kulasekaram road and take the left to Thikurichi. Then take a right just before crossing the Tambiraparani River to reach Karupparai Bhagavati Payanam.
