Muthalamman Paramakudi is a very popular east-facing temple situated amidst two Prakarams. The entrance is through a beautiful 5 tiered Rajagopuram in the east. Opposite the entrance across the road is a small temple for Selva Sakthi Vinayaka. A large Maha Mandapam follows the entrance and the sides of the mandapam open out into the outer prakaram. There is an inner prakaram around the sanctum sanctorum for circumambulation with paintings of different forms of the goddess on the side walls. The sanctum and the pillars in the mandapams are all beautifully carved but do not look ancient. The Vaigai River flows north of Muthalamman Paramakudi.
