Kailasanadar Thiruchengode is a large east-facing temple with a 5 tiered Rajagopuram at the entrance in the east. A large mandapam and very tall stone Dwajasthambam is in the middle of the road outside the Rajagopuram. The Rajagopuram leads inside the large and beautiful prakaram. A Balipeedam, Flagstaff and Nandi Mandapam are in front. On the right side of the flagstaff is a large Nandi made with brick and concrete. A single prakaram houses all the shrines and the sanctum sanctorum. Straight ahead is a Maha Mandapam with some beautifully carved Yaali Pillars and other pillars with carvings of deities and ornamental patterns. This is followed by the Ardha Mandapam and the sanctum sanctorum of the main deity. The sanctum is exited through a doorway on the south side. Around the nicely paved prakaram are many trees and flowering plants. The goddess shrine is separate and on the north side of the sanctum sanctorum of the main deity. The Maha Mandapam before the shrine also has some nice carved pillars. In between the sanctum of the main deity and the shrine of the Goddess is the shrine of Lord Muruga in a Somaskanda formation.
