Someswarar Senthamangalam is a beautiful east-facing temple with an entrance gateway in the east side. The temple is situated in a single tree-filled prakaram and is in a peaceful location. The sanctum sanctorum is on a small elevated platform. The outer sides of the Maha Mandapam, Ardha Mandapam, and Sanctum Sanctorum are beautifully carved with various ornamental designs. The Vinayaka shrine in the sanctum niche has a beautifully carved mandapam in front. The adjacent Dakshinamurthy shrine also has a mandapam in front. The east-facing shrine of the goddess is separate with a Maha Mandapam and Ardha Mandapam in front of the deity. The Perumal and Krishna temples in Senthamangalam are connected to Someswarar Senthamangalam temple.

History

Someswarar Senthamangalam is an ancient temple that has been renovated recently. During our visit in 2021, the local gentleman who lives on the adjoining farm was coordinating a large group of devotees who were there cleaning up the prakaram. Historical information is not available as of now.

Lord Rama and Anjaneya are believed to have worshiped the lord here at Someswarar Senthamangalam.

Directions

Someswarar Senthamangalam is about 12 kilometers northeast of Namakkal on the road going towards Bellukurichi. After the Perumal temple on the main road, take a right towards the east to reach Someswarar Senthamangalam. Refer to our map below for the exact location.
