Choleeswarar Arasiramani is a small west-facing temple situated in a single open prakaram. An ancient gopuram is seen on the west side in a broken condition and some of the stone pieces have nice carvings on them. On the northwest side is the shrine of Muruga with consorts followed by Saneeswara and Navagraha on the north side. The Navagraha idols are seen with their respective consorts. There is an installation of Vinayaka, Shiva Lingam, their mounts, and Naagar under a Vanni tree on the south side. On the southwest side are the shrines of Niruthi Vinayaka and Lakshminarayana. A large Nandi is facing the main deity. The sanctum sanctorum of the main deity faces west with a large open pillared mandapam in front. This is followed by an Ardha Mandapam. Another Nandi, an old one, faces the main deity in the Ardha Mandapam. The main deity is a large lingam more than 4 feet tall from the base. The main Lingam and Nandi outside look new and we think the old Lingam and Nandi kept now under the Vanni tree are probably the original ones.

History

Choleeswarar Arasiramani is an ancient temple that has been renovated completely in recent times. Though we did not find any inscriptions in the venue, Choleeswarar Arasiramani could have been constructed during the Chola period going by the name of the main deity and the dilapidated Gopuram. Historical information is not available as of now.
