Kailasanadar Aarani is a large east-facing temple with 2 Prakarams. A 5 tiered Rajagopuram is at the entrance in the east. Outside and opposite the gopuram is a large Temple tank. The 63 Nayanmar are installed with a small note on the history of each one of them. Two large Dwarapalakas are seen outside the Sanctum Sanctorum.

History

Kailasanadar Aarani goes back to the 13th Century Chola period. Sambuvaraya Chieftains and Vijayanagar Kings have contributed to the development of Kailasanadar Aarani.

Aarani is 35 kilometers southeast of Vellore, 25 kilometers south of Arcot, and 55 kilometers southwest of Kancheepuram. Kailasanadar Aarani is inside the town near the Magistrate Court and Town Police Station.

Stay and Food

Aarani has a few small restaurants. Stay would be in Kancheepuram or Vellore depending on your travel.
