Ganesha, Muruga with consorts, Sanctum Niches – Provision made but idols yet to be installed
Kailasanadar Kailasapuram is an ancient temple that has been completely lost. We found that the entire temple has been demolished and a totally new one without any consideration for its antiquity being constructed. The only aspect that is being followed would be the Gajaprastha Vimaanam of the Sanctum Sanctorum, though even that is completely new construction. Originally this was probably the only temple in these parts that had Lord Shiva in human form. We saw old photographs of the large Shiva and Parvati in seated form. The idols had been vandalized with all the four arms of the Lord broken away. A large Shiva Lingam was also present. We are not sure whether the old stones and inscriptions were safeguarded. Kailasanadar Kailasapuram is an east-facing temple situated beautifully on a small hillock amidst verdant fields and the Jawadhu hills. There is a temple pond on top which is a natural depression that collects rainwater.
