Kailasanadar Kovilur is an ancient temple situated in a single Prakaram. The entrance gateway is at the south. A temple pond is located east of the temple adjoining it. The sanctum sanctorum has a Gajaprasta Vimaanam. Another small shrine for Shiva is very close on the way to Kailasanadar Kovilur. Looking at the structural similarities there is a good possibility that the temple could have been quite large in the ancient days and the smaller shrine could have been a part too.
