Thirugandeeswarar Nanalkadu is a small east-facing temple with an entrance Mantapam that leads into the single Prakaram. A Mantapam runs in the front of the two separate sanctums of the god and goddess, both of which have separate doors in front. They are also interconnected from inside between the Mahamantapams of both. An Ardha Mantapam leads into the Sanctums of both. Vinayaka is present outside the doorway of both sanctums. The carvings on top of the sanctum walls outside are all ancient and so are some of the idols. A local caretaker and his wife manage the temple. A row of sheds in the side provides shelter to their cows. The entire temple is surrounded by a tall compound wall.
