Thiruneelakanteswarar Kayathaar is a large east-facing temple with a 5 tiered Rajagopuram at the entrance. A single large Prakaram is enclosed by a large compound wall. The north and south sides of the Prakaram have corridor Mantapas on the walls. At the western corners of these Mantapas are Ganesha and Muruga. Beautiful, but damaged, old idols of both are kept outside with the recent ones in the shrines. There are many old damaged old idols lying about in the Prakaram. The sanctum sanctorum is a huge tall stone structure.
