Ammaiappar Ambasamudram is a small east-facing temple with a single Prakaram. The entrance is through a gateway in the east.  There is a Mahamantapam and Ardhamantapam before the Sanctum Sanctorum. The annual Panguni festival Utsav of the nearby Lord Kasipanadar Temple starts from Ammaiappar Ambasamudram. The administration office of the temples in Ambasamudram functions out of this temple.

History

As per the temple handbook Ammaiappar Ambasamudram is said to be more than 600 years old.

Legend

The lord here at Ammaiappar Ambasamudram is considered both father and mother and hence called Ammai Appar (mother, father) – Mathru Bhootheswarar.

Directions

Ammaiappar Ambasamudram is in the center of town in Patter Street which is after entering the Arch to the town and the right at the first junction, taking a left here will take you to Hotel Gowri Shankar and Kasipanathar Temple. Ambasamudram is about 40 kilometers west of Tirunelveli.

Stay and Food

There are many restaurants and a few hotels to stay in Ambasamudram. The food at Gowri Shankar is decent and so are the rooms.
