Kadakaleeswarar Kadayanallur is an ancient temple as is evident from the construction style and the large number of inscriptions found on the outer wall of the Sanctum Sanctorum. The details of the inscriptions are not available as of now.
From the name of the main deity at Kadakaleeswarar Kadayanallur it is possible that the town received its name from the Lord’s name.
Kadakaleeswarar Kadayanallur is about 17 kilometers north of Tenkasi in the Rajapalayam, Madurai road. The temple is in the southern part of the town off the highway in a place called Keelapalayam. There are 2 Perumal temples and a shiva temple also in Kadayanallur.
None locally except tea shops. The closest for food and stay is Tenkasi.
