Kadakaleeswarar Kadayanallur is an east-facing temple with a 5 tiered Rajagopuram at the entrance. A single large and spacious Prakaram houses the shrines and the Sanctum Sanctorum. Both main deity and goddess are in separate east facing sanctums. A small temple tank is outside.

History

Kadakaleeswarar Kadayanallur is an ancient temple as is evident from the construction style and the large number of inscriptions found on the outer wall of the Sanctum Sanctorum. The details of the inscriptions are not available as of now.

Directions

Kadakaleeswarar Kadayanallur is about 17 kilometers north of Tenkasi in the Rajapalayam, Madurai road. The temple is in the southern part of the town off the highway in a place called Keelapalayam. There are 2 Perumal temples and a shiva temple also in Kadayanallur.
