Meenakshi Sundareswarar Desamanickam is a small east-facing temple with a single Prakaram housing the sanctum Sanctorum. A maha mandapam is common to both the sanctums of the main deity and the south-facing goddess. Nandi and Balipeedam are outside the main entrance. A large temple tank is outside towards the south of the temple. The temple is situated beautifully among verdant green fields. There is a Perumal temple behind.

Meenakshi Sundareswarar Desamanickam is an ancient temple as is evident from the structures and the architecture style. We came to know that it has been served by the Travancore and Naicker Kings.
Sages Agastya and Romasa have worshiped the lord here at Meenakshi Sundareswarar Desamanickam. A Chakram is believed to have been installed by Adi Shankara in this temple.
Meenakshi Sundareswarar Desamanickam is about 19 kilometers west of Tirunelveli. Take the Ambasamudram road to reach Melaseval. Take a right inside Melaseval and cross the large Shiva Temple, drive on to reach Meenakshi Sundareswarar Desamanickam which is visible from a distance in the middle of fields.
