Kailasanadar Palavanatham is an east-facing temple that is entered through a large gateway Mandapam on the east side. The entrance opens out into a large Prakaram. There is a mandapam that leads towards the sanctum and another mandapam follows that extends both sides covering the front portion of the sanctum sanctorum and the goddess shrine. Both the sanctum and the goddess shrine are separate and have their Mahamandapam and Ardha Mandapams. All the mandapams have carved pillars. Two Nandis are seen in front of the lord one outside and another before the sanctum. There is an Anjaneya carving on a pillar outside the goddess’s shrine. Outside the temple is a temple tank on the northeast side. On the north side of the temple is a pond that is dry.
