Holy Water (Theertham) – Same as the Thiruvarur temple
Sacred Tree (Sthala Vriksham) – No separate holy tree
Thirunavukkarasar (7th Century CE) has rendered Thevaram Hymns here for the lord. Naminandi Adigal, one of the 63 Nayanmars, has also worshiped here. The Grand Queen Sembian Mahadevi (10th century CE) of the Chola Dynasty rebuilt this temple with stone. Stone Inscriptions from Rajaraja I era are found here.
Naminandi Adigal is said to have lit a lamp with water here. The Lord’s shadow is said to fall only on the eastern side here.
Aarur Araneri is inside Thiruvarur temple which is right in the middle of Thiruvarur town.
Thiruvarur has some good hotels and a few decent restaurants.
