Thirukkaarayil is an ancient temple recently renovated and nicely maintained. The entrance to this large east facing temple is through a 3 tier Rajagopuram.

History

Thirugnanasambandar (7th Century CE) has rendered Thevaram hymns here.

Mythology

The Lord is said to have appeared to bless Sage Kapala. He is also said to have performed the 7 dance postures (Saptha Thandavam) on the request of Sage Pathanjali.
