Krishnaswami Thovalai is a beautiful east-facing temple situated in two Prakarams. The temple is entered from the east through a large Mukha Mandapam which is at a lower level than the surrounding area. This is followed by a mandapam in the outer Prakaram in front of the doorway to the inner Prakaram. This mandapam has pillars with beautiful carvings including Rama, Lakshmana, Sita, and Anjaneya on them. The outer Prakaram is filled with trees and has a Nandavanam (Temple Garden). There are new idols and installations of Kalinga Narthana Krishna, Nandavana Krishna, and Shiva in this Prakaram. The inner Prakaram houses the Sanctum sanctorum of the Lord who is in a standing posture. There is a Muruga Temple opposite Krishnaswami Thovalai on a small hill. Further down in the Chekkagiri hills is another old Muruga temple. The village of Thovalai is well known for horticulture activities and its Jasmine Flowers.
