Venugopalaswamy Periyamanali is a beautiful east-facing temple with a 3 tiered Rajagopuram at the entrance in the east. Venugopalaswamy Periyamanali is situated in a single large and beautiful prakaram in the same campus as the adjoining Shiva temple. The campus is filled with flowering plants and impeccably maintained. There is a stone Dwajasthambam in front of the Rajagopuram. The Mukha Mandapam of this gopuram has Nandi idols on the sides. After the gopuram is a long mandapam that leads towards the Sanctum Sanctorum of the main deity. In this mandapam is a Flagstaff. The main deity is Lord Krishna as Venugopala with a flute along with his consorts Rukmini and Sathyabhama. On the south side and in front is a shrine for Aadhi Narayana Perumal. Outside and nearby is a famous and large temple for Kari Kaliamman.

History

Venugopalaswamy Periyamanali is said to be an old temple that has been completely rebuilt retaining very few of the old elements. Historical information is not available as of now.

Legend

The king who is believed to have built the Venugopalaswamy Periyamanali temple installed both the idols at the same time and gave them the same importance. This practice continues even today and the locals worship Aadhi Narayana Perumal before starting any major work.
