Varadaraja Perumal, Emaneswaram is a small east-facing temple with an entrance through a 5 tiered Rajagopuram on the east side. The temple is situated in a single Prakaram. The sanctum sanctorum is a beautiful structure and there are some nice carvings around. The chakrathazhwar here is a beautiful idol with a fire crown. The main deity is a large 7 feet tall idol. Lord Srinivasa Perumal and Alarmelmangai Thaayar who were the main deities before the installation of Varadaraja Perumal are also seen in a separate sanctum and are also considered as the main deity. The presence of Navagraha is significant. Anjaneya and Karuppanna Swamy temples are outside. To the south of the temple flows the Vaigai River.

History

Varadaraja Perumal Emaneswaram is said to be an old temple. Historical information is not available as of now.

Legend

Varadaraja Perumal Emaneswaram was built by a devotee who found the idol of Lord Vishnu in a canal near here after he was informed so in a dream by Lord Vishnu.

Directions

Varadaraja Perumal Emaneswaram is on the north side of the Vaigai River flowing through Paramakudi. There is a Shiva temple also nearby and a few more temples in Paramakudi. Paramakudi is about 42 kilometers northwest of Ramanathapuram.
