Yoga Narasimhar Sogathur is said to be an old temple, but historical information is not available as on date.
Yoga Narasimhar Sogathur is connected with the legend of Brahma who lost the Vedas and in a sorrowful mood undertook a penance towards Lord Vishnu to revive him. He is believed to have had a dip at the Lakshmi Saras Theertham here at Yoga Narasimhar Sogathur and got relief from his state. Sogam in Tamil refers to the sorrowful mood of people and hence the place was called Sogabahathroopam and eventually became Sogathur.
