Kariamanicka Perumal Pattamadai is a small east facing with two Prakarams. The outer Prakaram has a large open space in front. The inner Prakaram is reached through a concrete and stone Mantapam and gateway. The inner Prakaram is paved. The Mahamantapam and Ardha Mantapam lead into the Sanctum Sanctorum.

Kariamanicka Perumal Pattamadai is an ancient temple as is clear from the inscriptions around the Sanctum Sanctorum. The details of the inscriptions are not available as of now. The temple is said to have been built by the Pandya Kings.

Kariamanicka Perumal Pattamadai is 20 kilometers southwest of Tirunelveli. Pattamadai is famous for mats of a very high quality right from regular ones to fine silky mats and various other products.
