Varadaraja Perumal, Kalakkad is a small east-facing temple with an entrance gateway in the east. A large courtyard with Balipeedam, Flagstaff, and Garuda is in front of the entrance to the single Prakaram. The Prakaram has many trees and flowering plants. The main deity is about 6 feet tall and along with his consorts are beautiful stucco idols infused with herbs. Hence no ablution is performed on the idols. A temple tank is a little way in front of the temple.
