Sethunarayana Perumal Watrap is said to be an old temple. Historical information is not available as of now. The village used to be called Vatradha Iruppu (the river that never dries) probably referring to the Arjuna River that comes down from the hills on the west. The name was changed to Watrap by the Britishers.
