Thiruvelukkai is a west facing temple with a 3 tier Rajagopuram and a temple tank on the west of the temple. Azhagiya Singa Perumal is a large deity in sitting posture.

The lord is believed to have appeared in his Narasimha Avatar for Sage Brigu here. Another legend is that after killing Hiranyakashipu he was chasing away the Asura’s soldiers and he is believed to have found this place serene and sat down here at Thiruvelukkai to rest.


Thiruvelukkai is located in the Rengasamy Kulam area and near the Vilakkoli Perumal Temple in Kancheepuram town.
