Kailasanadar Kovalam is an ancient east facing temple with entrance from south side. The mantapa, pillars idols are all works of art. The base of the Shiva Lingam has inscriptions which is rare or even unique. The script, we learnt, says ‘Sri Satheruman Murthiper’. The base of the Mahamantapam has a 3 line inscription throughout. This Mantapam also has the idols of Kubera Vinayaka, Vijaya Vinayaka and Shiva Shakti Vinayaka. Originally a lime and sand brick construction Kailasanadar Kovalam has been renovated to some extent recently. There is a large temple Tank opposite to the east of the temple.
