Malleeswarar Mannivakkam is a beautiful east facing small temple in a peaceful and quiet village. The locals support the temple’s activities but somehow the expansion and Kumbabishekam (Consecration) ceremony of the temple is pending for reasons beyond control. The lingam and the original small shrine was protected for long as part of a house by the locals during the Muslim invasions. Later the temple was built up gradually in a small way.
Holy Water (Theertham) – Sivaganga Theertham – Well inside the temple
Sacred Tree (Sthala Vriksham) – Vilwam (Aegle marmelos)
Malleeswarar Karasangal is said to date back about 400 – 500 years by the local caretaker and priest.
The area used to be filled with Jasmine (Malli) plants and hence the name of the lord is Malleeswarar. Jasmine is still grown near Malleeswarar Karasangal in some nearby fields.
Malleeswarar Karasangal is inside Karasangal Village which is 2.5 kilometers from the Vandalur flyover on the road going to Oragadam.
None locally except tea shops. Closest for food would be Vandalur.
