Mallikeswarar Madagathur is a small east facing temple with entrance from east. It is located near a lake and the surroundings are quiet, serene and beautiful. There is a Samadhi (burial spot) of a Sidhdhar which is marked by a Shiva Lingam. The temple was covered in earth and another Shiva Lingam was discovered in the lake shore. This is presently installed over the Samadhi of the Sidhdhar mentioned above. There are a few other small Amman temples nearby and around the village. The temple compound has a lot of trees and plants. The temple was built up with the support of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam by the efforts of one Mr.Chandrasekhar.
Holy Water (Theertham) – Temple pond (opposite and south east of the temple)
Sacred Tree (Sthala Vriksham) – Neem (Azadirachta indica)
Mallikeswarar Madagathur is said to go back to the era of a Pallava King called Kripathavarman (we could not locate the name in the dynasty line, could be a title of a Pallava King). No other historical information is available as on date.
