Marundeeswarar Thirukachur is a small and important temple with an entrance gateway from the south side. There is a large and deep well east of the temple with a unique path and steps leading down from one side. Girivalam ritual is performed by devotees here along a path starting off west of the temple. Marundeeswarar Thirukachur is considered as a twin temple along with the Kachabeswarar Temple which is about a kilometer away in the village.

Many stone inscriptions are found inside Marundeeswarar Thirukachur indicating its antiquity. Marundeeswarar Thirukachur temple has been mentioned in the Thevaram Hymns of Sundarar (7th Century CE).
