Thiruvaaleeswarar Srivanchur is an ancient temple which has been almost completely lost over time. The remains were discovered by a local old man and members of a temple revival group (Hindu Aalayangal Suththam Seiyum Iraipani Sabhai) have been coming ever since from Chennai to perform the rituals on important days. Members who come to this temple for this purpose include economically weak, but strong minded and devoted people including flower sellers from Chennai. They have erected a shed with contributions and a kitchen area. The temple has a temple tank opposite which has been taken up and cleaned by Eicher Group. The Sanctum Sanctorum inside ceiling is hexagonal. Lakshmi Narayana and Muruga are located outside the sanctum like Dwarapalakas on either side. Two Naagar idols are further outside the entrance and are considered the guardian deities of this temple. The Vinayaka here is seen with the Elephant as his mount and not the usual Mouse. On the step in the outside stone entrance is carved the snake and moon concept depicting an eclipse. The area is bare and no trees are found except the lone neem tree and weeds. Twice in a year during the transit of the Sun its rays fall through the holes in the outer wall on the Lingam.

Holy Water (Theertham) – Temple tank

Sacred Tree (Sthala Vriksham) – Neem (Azadirachta indica)
