Ekambareswarar Tammanur is an ancient west facing temple with a gateway in the east. A small gate is also present in the west which leads to the large, dry and neglected temple pond. As you enter, a large east facing shrine for Lord Muruga comes first and to its north are the Sanctum Sanctorum and other shrines. The single Prakaram is large but not maintained properly. The main Lingam is nice, large and made of mud, hence has an armour and ablution is not performed. The Sthala Vriksham (Holy Tree) is Vilwam planted by the Great Saint of Kanchi, Mahaperiyava. A beautiful carving of Rama, Lakshmana, Hanuman and Sugreeva is found on the east facing wall of the Sanctum Sanctorum.
Holy Water (Theertham) – Temple Tank
Sacred Tree (Sthala Vriksham) – Vilwam (Aegle marmelos)
