Vazhakarutheeswarar Kancheepuram is a small recently renovated east facing temple situated in a very busy area of Kancheepuram. The temple is entered through a newly renovated 3 tiered Rajagopuram on the northern side. The 25 headed and 50 handed Maha Sadhashiva can be seen on this gopuram. You can see lot of people sitting here and writing out their cases, legal and otherwise. A small temple tank is present on the eastern side facing the Lord’s sanctum sanctorum. The main deity is a 16 faced Lingam and situated about 4 feet below ground level. Vazhakarutheeswarar, Parasareswarar and Somaskanda are in a line.

Legend

The lord here at Vazhakarutheeswarar Kancheepuram is believed to have appeared to settle a dispute between the Devas and some sages and hence his name is Vazhakku (case) Arutheeswarar (one who demolishes legal issues). Famous personalities from all over the country are known to visit this temple in their quest to get rid of legal issues.

Vazhakarutheeswarar Kancheepuram is in the right as your enter Gandhi Road which will lead you further to Thiruvetka. Parking is difficult here.
