Adikesava Perumal Sriperumbudur is a large temple with a huge temple tank and a tall 5 tier Rajagopuram at the eastern entrance. This temple is also known as Bhaskaryarar Temple after Ramanujar who wrote the Vishishtadvaita philosophy text, Sri Bhashyam. A Golden Mandap built by the Maharaja of Mysore stands in front of the shrine of Ramanujar. The beautiful temple tank is behind the temple and larger than the temple campus itself.

History

Adikesava Perumal Sriperumbudur, is an ancient temple, and the birthplace of the great Saint Ramanujar (11th-12th Century CE).

Mythology

The Boodha Ganas, an army of Lord Shiva are believed to have created this temple as their gratitude to Lord Vishnu for curing them from a curse of Shiva.  Lord Vishnu created a spring here, Anantha Saras Theertham and gave darshan to the them from its bank to relieve them of the curse. The place is also called Bhoodhapuri.
