Ramalingeswarar Nandambakkam is a small east facing temple. The temple is surrounded by houses and a single Prakaram houses the shrines and Sanctum Sanctorum.

Ramalingeswarar Nandambakkam is an old temple. But historical information is not available as on date. The nearby Kotandarama Temple is said to have been built by the Vijayanagar Kings and this temple could also be as old as that.
Lord Rama is believed to have worshiped Lord Shiva here at Ramalingeswarar Nandambakkam. The place used to be called Nandavanam in the olden days and has become Nandambakkam today.
Ramalingeswarar Nandambakkam can be reached by taking a right immediately after the War Cemetry before Chennai Trade center when you go from St.Thomas Mount and going in about 500 meters in the MES road. Enter the Ramar Kovil Street to reach Ramalingeswarar Nandambakkam.
A number of restaurants are available in the main road going to Porur from St.Thomas Mount.
