Murugan, Thavasumalai is a west facing temple on a small hillock. The steps to climb up to the temple are on the east side. On the way up are a number of small shrines for Lord Vinayaka. The main deity is in standing posture, with the right hand holding the lance and the left hand resting on the waist. There is a pond on the east side of the hill and a rock pond at the base of the hill on the west side.
