History
Subramaniaswamy Vellikaram Temple is said to have been built by Rajasimha Pallava. Arunagirinathar (15th Century CE) has visited and sung the praise of Lord Muruga here at Subramaniaswamy Vellikaram.
Legend
Since it is believed that Muruga held the hand of his consort Valli here at Subramaniaswamy Vellikaram for the first time, hence the place is called Valli Karam (karam means hand).
Directions
Subramaniaswamy Vellikaram is 4 kms from Pallipattu in the Pallipattu- Ramakrishnarajupet road. Take a right before the river bridge and proceed for 2 kms to reach the Shiva temple at the base of the hill. From there you have to climb up to Subramaniaswamy Vellikaram by foot.
