Thiruneelakanteswarar Uthukottai Temple is a small east facing with an entrance arch. Amman is in sitting posture and is rare in occurrence. Sage Agastya is in the place of Vinayaka on the sanctum sanctorum outer wall (Goshtam). The main deity is in a sanctum sanctorum with a Gajaprasta Vimaanam (sitting elephant). The Arani river runs south of the temple just outside town.
